Nature and Time
She stood as an enchanting example of birth and love
Her limbs were tree vines moving with natural fluidity
They’d swing and sway with seductive smoothness
That no other creature could match
When the wind blew Her hair exploded like leaves on a tree branch
Rippling and changing colors in the bright sunlight
From caramel brown to deep black in the course of a day
Surrounding Her were the melodious sounds of nature
Her children, Her creations, all living harmoniously together
Plants and animals growing and evolving on their own
Based on their needs and the world around Them
While their Mother did nothing but keep a watchful eye
He stood as an immaculate example of meticulous planning
His hands were well worn with long and robotic fingers
Every movement was exact and precise to the inch
No second ever wasted on unnecessary energy expulsion
Ghostly pale skin was the result of hiding indoors
There He could remain undisturbed for days and days
Yet always knowing when one ended and the next began
Keeping careful track of each passing hour
Down to the exact millisecond
Making sure every moment in time was accounted for
Controlling each tick of the clock and day of the week
A Father watching over everything with deftly trained eyes
She stood naked and free, a specimen of pure beauty
From head to toe Her skin was perfectly tanned porcelain
The soft curves of Her breasts were a beach
A shoreline where the sun met flesh
Her eyes were pools of ocean water that crashed with waves
Delicate hands gently caressed all the life She had borne
Plants and animals that grew and bloomed from Her own bosom
Each one cherished and loved and allowed to live without intervention
A rope of ivy hugged Her round hips and hung airily
Around the third finger of Her left hand
Was a well polished ring of pure silver
On it was an hourglass whose sand had been frozen
The only thing He had ever given to Her
He stood in a three piece suit with dress shoes and hat
Tall and erect He was perfectly poised, the picture of fastidiousness
The sharpness of his suit gave Him an elegant and streamlined appearance
His eyes were starless night skies, pure black and infinite
Carefully precise fingers were in constant movement at his sides
Steadily manipulating the children He created and set parameters for
Each one had a calculated set of laws it must adhere to
A dozen thin chains of various metals led to pocket watches
So He could watch for any mistakes that may occur
Around the third finger of his left hand
Was a ring of perfectly smoothed oak
On it was a flower bud that bloomed with the sun
The only thing She had ever given Him
She stood remembering the birth of Her children
They had been born of Her loneliness and need of companionship
It started when He retreated indoors where She couldn’t follow
Her tears had flowed for days at the loss of love
They landed as seeds and burrowed deep into the ground
After the rains had passed they sprouted into trees and flowers
Breath escaped in awe at the beauty created from Her sadness
While admiring and caressing Her children a thorn pricked one delicate finger
Blood welled and fell, microscopic organisms mixed with earth and air
Animals sprang forth fully conscious and aware of their Mother’s pain
Enveloped by loving and caring life the void He left grew smaller and distant
He stood remembering the birth of His children
They had been born of frustration and need for control
It started when She rejected the need of precise laws and boundaries
On that day He set out to prove the necessity of restrictive rules
Collected skin cell samples were carefully measured until exact
Sun beams were spliced and refracted until their secrets were knowledge
All this data was compiled and synthesized into workable models
Using random thoughts and spare brain waves He began molding
Following perfectly calculated plans His children took shape
When His meticulous fingers finally finished every unit of time sat before Him
Staring at His constrained followers He thought of Her and smiled triumphantly
She still remembered the last time Her eyes fell upon Him
Underneath a tree where sunlight and shadows battled for dominance
He walked stiffly, purpose pouring out of every step
His suit was made of straight lines and sharp edges, nothing out of place
Children He had created were malevolently prodded between Them
A twisted smile filled with disgusting pride curled His lips
The creations He so cherished were invisible soulless abominations
He lauded their perfection and peaceful adherence to the laws set in place
All She saw was ugliness, no free will or conscious thought
Nothing but brainless pawns manipulated for their Father’s whim
She wept then, both for His children and the man He had become
He still remembered the last time his eyes fell upon Her
Outside of the protective place He’d spent so much time
She walked with a seductive slither, each step soft and light
Her naked body was an hourglass of silky skin, hair wild in the wind
All around was a cacophony that clawed at His ears viscously
Repulsive feral creatures roamed around Them without any constraints
Violent and decaying creations succumbing to archaic base drives
Speaking of their grace and love She beamed a perfect sunlit smile
In His eyes there was no meaning to their existence
The illogical cycle of life and death sickened him
He wept then for all the pain and suffering She created
They both remembered the way things used to be
Never ending days of beautiful silence and desolate land
Harmonious love and happiness Their only company in the world
Making love under shining suns and blazing moons
Passion and lust pouring out of every pore until puddle on the ground
Lying on flat top mesas or crystalline beached naked and exhausted
Staring into cloudless skies until Their eyes burned azure
Walking directionless towards nothing on well worn bare feet
Holding hands while gentle wind hugged and caressed Them
She felt calm and content with a willingness to live this way forever
He felt listless and nervous knowing this could never endure
They both knew when things began to weaken
After circling the globe countless times They had seen everything
From barren plains to boiling deserts to bitter ice caps
The world had become old and familiar and predictable
In the end it was the solitude They loved that drove Them apart
Slowly cracks began forming on the perfect painting that was Their life
What began as small differences easily ignored and moved past
Became canyons that had to be carefully traversed
Her tears became streams that formed lakes before filling oceans
His frustration became obscuring clouds filled with lightning and thunder
Their once pure love became diseased and unrecognizable to either of Them
They remembered when They finally went separate ways
He retreated into a cave, deep and dark and completely isolated
Away from the world and everything She loved so dearly
She continued walking, visiting all the places They spent time
Letting memories of love and happiness fuel her growing loneliness
Each of Them grieved Their loss in Their own individual ways
He used logic and reason to justify what had happened
Concluding that it was right and inevitable before moving on to other things
She let emotions take control and drown her mind
Feeling more pain and agony than had ever existed before
Both of Them unaware of the impact They would have on the Earth
